COVID 19
Please note that West Coast Endoscopy Centre has increased itβs already stringent infection control protocols for the imminent COVID 19 pandemic in Western Australia.
WA community acquired infections are either low or not present. With strict screening and isolation we can limit the penetrance and prevalence.
At the time of writing the steps we are taking are as follows :
We are undertaking enhanced screening prior to patients being admitted to the endoscopy unit
Patients having endoscopy are required to undergo COVID 19 testing by throat and nose swab
Those with respiratory symptoms and or a travel history from a country of high prevalence will not be admitted to the centre
Alcohol hand sanitiser will be used by patients on arrival and while in the centre and on discharge.
Patients will be distanced from each other while in the centre
Staff will continue meticulous hand hygiene and the wearing of PPE as required by regulatory authorities
The volume of patients being admitted will be reduced in keeping with the requirements of the Gastroenterological society of Australia and the Health Department of WA
We are undertaking Telehealth consultation
We have signed a cooperative agreement with the Commonwealth and State Governments to maintain services throughout the pandemic period.
How can you help ?

Do not present for you procedure if you have respiratory symptoms
Be meticulous with hand hygiene as well as cough and sneeze etiquette
Practice social distancing and do not attend social gatherings or any external activities that are not absolutely necessary
If you are advised to self-isolate or self-quarantine follow the advice honestly for the sake of all of us
Be courteous and considerate towards others including staff and other patients during this time
Obtain information only from reputable sources ie not Facebook or other social media sites
See your GP if you feel unwell β but call ahead
