What can you do to prevent bowel cancer?

  1. Follow a healthy diet low in processed foods and red meat and high in fruits and vegetables.

  2. Keep active, maintain normal body weight and exercise regularly.

  3. Stop smoking and limit alcohol consumption to no more than 1-2 drinks a day.

  4. Don’t ignore symptoms such as changes in bowel habit, bleeding, weight loss or abdominal pain.

  5. If you are 50 years or over talk to your doctor about regular screening for bowel cancer.
